Sandra worked in university senior executive teams for 15 years – with responsibilities including: enterprise and international development, research, communications and academic quality.

For 15 years she led research teams at the National Foundation for Educational Research in England and Wales. Much of this research was commissioned to inform national debates and policy-making, and Sandra has extensive experience of research dissemination and consultancy.  She has produced several books, over 20 research reports and numerous journal articles and policy papers.

Sandra has considerable experience of regulation, governance and service improvement. Her Board activity includes the National Open College Network, four colleges and schools, a Children’s Trust and a regional NHS Strategic Workforce Board. Most recently she was the Senior Independent Director at an NHS Foundation Trust (2014-2020). She is a Governor at Wrexham Glyndwr University.

Sandra enjoys travel and the great outdoors. She is a keen supporter of the Arts and is treasurer of the Buxton Festival Fringe. She is involved in a range of community initiatives, including work with High Peak Access - who support inclusion and diversity.
